Celebrity Brand Ambassadors: Which brand do your favourite Indian celebrities endorse?

Celebrity culture has become a big part of our everyday life. Whether it be our television screens or social media feeds, celebrities dominate the mainstream media more than anything or anyone. Celebrities have successfully managed to convert this excessive attention and fame into a million-dollar industry through brand endorsements, which significantly contributes to celebrities’ earnings. In fact, according to reports, the combined brand value of India’s top celebrities stands at a whopping $877.4 million (USD).

Though most of these celebrities belong to the Bollywood film industry, some don’t. Check out the following list to know which brands your favourite celebrities have endorsed or currently endorse.

1.Shah Rukh Khan

“King Khan” is a favourite among brands. His charismatic presence on-screen and stardom have led him to win the award of “Brand Ambassadors of the Year” at various award ceremonies. Khan has endorsed a variety of products, including soft drinks, mobile phones and fashion accessories. He has been a brand ambassador for prominent brands like Nokia, Hyundai, DishTV, TAG Heuer and Pepsi. Recently, Kent signed him as the brand ambassador for their security product range.

2. Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone holds the most brand endorsement deals in India. She is also the most valuable Bollywood celebrity in the country, with a brand value of $102.5 million. Previously, she advertised for Parachute, Yamaha, Levis and Pepsi. Recently, she signed an endorsement deal with Lloyd, along with her husband, Ranveer Singh, and is also currently working with Goibibo, Asian Paints, OPPO and Axis Bank.

3. Virat Kohli

The India Cricket Team captain is India’s most-valued brand celebrity. His estimated brand worth is around $170 million. He is the star of brand endorsement, signing endorsement deals with more than 10 brands in 2018 alone, including Tissot, PUMA, Hero Motocorp, Philips, Punjab National Bank and Uber India. The heartthrob Indian captain recently signed on as brand ambassador by the esports platform Mobile Premier League (MPL).

4. Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Nawazuddin “Nawaz” Siddiqui’s mass appeal not only comes from his tremendous success at the box office and superb acting skills but also, from his life story. Siddiqui might be unconventional in the Bollywood film industry, but he is highly relatable to the Indian audience. Quite selective when it comes to working with brands, Siddiqui has worked with some big brands, such as Truecaller, Mayur Suitings and Mahindra & Mahindra in the past. Recently, PokerStars India roped in Nawazuddin Siddiqui as its first-ever celebrity brand ambassador.

5. Aamir Khan

“Mr Perfectionist” only promotes brands in which he believes. Not only is he personally invested in the brand products he endorses but also, likes to know all the details beforehand and participate in every step of the marketing process. He has worked with well-known brands, such as Airtel, Videocon, Vivo, Godrej and DishTV. In 2015, Snapdeal offered him for a whopping 30 crores rupees endorsement deal, which made Khan the recipient of the most expensive Bollywood celebrity endorsement deal in India. He is currently the face of the digital payments company PhonePe and shoe brand Walkaroo.

6. PV Sindhu

The famous badminton player is the youngest celebrity in India’s top 20 celebrities with the highest brand value. After her winning streaks at international tournaments, brands from all over the country chased her. To date, she has promoted various brands, ranging from tyres to earphones. She has worked with big names, such as Samsung, Optimum Strength, Moov, UNICEF and Panasonic. Recently, she signed a 50 crore rupees sponsorship deal with the Chinese sports brand Li Ning.

7. Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt is a top choice among advertisers, making her seventh on the list of India’s top celebrities with the highest brand value. Her wide commercial success has got all the biggest brands knocking on her door for endorsements. In 2018, she signed on as a brand ambassador for more than 10 brands, including Lux, Uber Eats, Sunsilk, Parle, Mango Frooti, Star Plus and Sunfeast.
